Wherever your life takes you, Brightwell keeps you connected to and in control of your finances.

Using FaceCheck and solving common problems

FaceCheck helps us protect your account by replacing your password with a seamless upload of a 2-second video selfie to authenticate your identity. Helping us ensure you're the right person who should be accessing your account. Traditional passwords can be forgotten or compromised. With this security feature, you only need your username. Then FaceCheck will verify your 2-second video selfie, allowing you to log in.

FaceChek works with any camera on your mobile phone, tablet, or computer and allows us to enhance your account security as FaceCheck won't be fooled by a picture and verifies your identity each time you log in.

What if my camera is not working?

Using FaceCheck requires a working camera to record your 2-second video selfie, so if you don't have a working camera, it's best to set up the Authenticator app login method using the instructions below. If you need help getting into your account, contact support for assistance accessing your account and to help you set up an Authenticator app.

How to set up FaceCheck

FaceCheck is Brightwell’s most advanced and secure login feature.

To log in to your account, you will now use FaceCheck instead of your password. Fraudsters will not be able to take over your account anymore by stealing or guessing your password.

  • Log in to Navigator using your username and password.
  • Facecheck information will appear, then tap Set up now.
  • Tap Enable camera to allow FaceCheck to access your camera.
  • Center yourself in the screen, make sure you have good lighting, then tap I am ready.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions.
  • Wait until you see the confirmation screen that says FaceCheck setup is complete! We will send you a confirmation email.

I’m having problems with my FaceCheck video selfie?

If you're running into issues logging in, try these tips to use FaceCheck more effectively:

  • Confirm you're in good light to ensure your face is mapped correctly.
  • It's important that the best light in the room faces you and that no bright light is behind you.
  • Don't stand directly below an overhead light.
  • Hold your phone at arm's length away from your face, keeping it at eye level. Be sure to remove any masks or hats because they can create shadows.

Since FaceCheck records and uploads a 2-second video selfie every time you log in, it's important to follow the tips above so your camera gets a clear recording of your face to verify your identity.

If you're still having trouble with FaceCheck, don't worry, there are other ways to sign in and keep your Brightwell account secure. Try to log in to your account and then follow the instructions below to set up an Authenticator app login method. If you can't log in to your account, reach out to Brightwell support, who will help guide you through getting back into your account so you can link and set up the Authenticator app login method.

When should you use an Authenticator App login method

FaceCheck might not be for everyone. If you’re consistently running into issues with FaceCheck, try using an Authenticator App login method in stead.

An Authenticator app is a mobile application designed to generate time-sensitive security codes for account authentication. It adds an extra layer of security beyond just your username and password. Adding an Authenticator app to your login method helps us protect your account by requiring this second app to authenticate your login attempt every time you log in. It's easy to download and set up this security method as there are a variety of Authenticator apps that you can download for your smartphone. A popular example is Google Authe nticator, but many people also use Microsoft Authenticator.

You can download either of these apps for your device using the links below:

Google Authenticator:  Android, iOS,
