How to setup FaceCheck

  1. If this is your first time setting up FaceCheck, log in to your Brightwell account entering your username, then your password.
  2. FaceCheck information will appear and select Set up now.
  3. Select Enable camera to allow FaceCheck to access your camera.
  4. Center yourself in the screen, make sure you have good lighting, then select I am ready.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions and wait until you see the confirmation screen that says FaceCheck setup is complete.

How do I setup FaceCheck for the first time?

Once we make FaceCheck available, you will need to update the Brightwell Navigator mobile app. Then, when you open the app and enter your username, it will guide you through the steps to set it up.

What happens to my old password?

Funds on your Brightwell card are insured up the amount on the card. Your Brightwell card and online accounts are protected through your credentials — a unique user name and password. Do not share this information with anyone. Your funds are no longer protected if you give your password, PIN, or CVV to someone else.

Can I use my fingerprint or Face Unlock/Face ID?

To report a lost or stolen card, contact Support immediately via your Navigator online account by creating a support ticket or by calling +1 855-821-4694 or +1 404- 855-2475. Support will restrict the lost or stolen card and assist with replacing your card. Once you notify Support, your funds are no longer at risk.

Will my facial hair or glasses work with FaceCheck?

The balance of your Brightwell Card is maintained in US dollars or in Euros. Anytime your card is used to make a purchase or cash withdrawal in a currency other than the card currency, a currency conversion fee will apply. The transaction will be converted to your card currency and deducted from your card.

What happens to my security image?

Yes. You can either allocate your wages to one bank account, or split between two bank accounts and a Brightwell Card. You can also create an OnDemand transfer. It is recommended that you allocate wages to your Brightwell Card for personal use while in port. Sending money to both your Brightwell Card and a beneficiary bank account provides you with the best of both worlds.

Can I allow a friend or family member to log in to my account with FaceCheck?

No, the Brightwell Card is not a credit card and it requires no traditional bank account. However, when making purchases you can select to run the card as Credit (preferred) or Debit (PIN required).

FaceCheck alternative: use an authenticator app

Choose between FaceCheck (2-second video selfie login) or an authenticator app (one-time passcode) as your log in method with Brightwell Navigator.

What is an authenticator app?

An app where you input a security code linked to your account. The authenticator app creates a unique, 6- to 8- digit code every time you log in.

Do I need to download a different app?

Yes. There are a variety of authenticator apps that you can download for your smartphone. A popular example is Google Authenticator, which can be found in Google Play and the iOS App Store.

Will the authenticator app use my data?

Once you download the app, it does not use any WiFi. You will only need to use data to download the authenticator app. Once the authenticator app is linked to Brightwell Navigator, no data is required to log in with it.

How to set up an authenticator app for your Brightwell Account

To help ensure you have control over your Brightwell account security, we provide you with a few ways to secure your account from unauthorized access. You can also set up and use an approved authenticator app to log in to your Navigator account online or in the app.

  • Log in to Navigator using your username and password or FaceCheck if it is set up.
  • Click or tap on Settings, then Security.
  • Tap Log in method.
  • If this is your first time setting up an authenticator app.
  • If this is your first time setting up an authenticator app, follow the on-screen instructions.
