Protect your account with a 2-second video selfie.

Update your Brightwell Navigator mobile app to make your account more secure.

Here are the basics about FaceCheck.

FaceCheck replaces your password

You might forget your password, but you cannot forget your face!

Only need your username and video selfie

To log in to your Brightwell account, you will enter your username, then FaceCheck will verify your 2-second video selfie.

Works on a phone, tablet, or computer

You can log in on any one of your devices to check your Brightwell account.

How does FaceCheck protect my account?

Video selfie login

FaceCheck uses your video selfie to confirm you are the real person connected to your Brightwell account. Not even a picture can fool this technology!

More protection

FaceCheck increases the security of your Brightwell account because fraudsters will not be able to guess or steal your password.

Hi-tech security

The computer technology behind FaceCheck verifies that your video self is the real, live person associated with your Brightwell account.

Frequently asked questions

Once we make FaceCheck available, you will need to update the Brightwell Navigator mobile app. Then, when you open the app and enter your username, it will guide you through the steps to set it up.

After your setup it up, your password will not be needed to log in anymore. When FaceCheck is turned on, you will be asked to setup FaceCheck the first time you try to log in on the app or on the website.

Since you will no longer need to type in a password to get into your account, we will disable the use of your phone’s biometric tool for Brightwell’s password (fingerprint and Face Unlock or FaceID).

Your video selfie will work with glasses and facial hair, but not with masks, sunglasses, or a rear-facing camera on a smart device.

Since you will no longer need to enter a password to get into your account, we will remove the security image. After you enter your username, you will be asked to go through FaceCheck to log in to your account.

For security purposes and for privacy reasons, only one face can be used for each Brightwell account - and that face must be the face of person who is associated with the account.

If you do not have a working camera on your phone, tablet, or computer, please contact support and we can help you.

We strongly recommend that you setup FaceCheck.  If your device does not have a working camera or if you have other technology issues, our support team will help you.

If your computer has a camera, you can log in to your Brightwell account just as you would on your phone.

FaceCheck will only work with phones or tablets using Android OS 5.0+ or iOS 8.3+.

Brightwell is committed to the safety and security of all of our cardholders. When you log into Brightwell, we create a face map that is encrypted to ensure as much security as possible (please see our privacy policy for more details). The encrypted face map is matched against your video selfie when you log in. Under no circumstances do we share or sell your face map.

Outdated browsers have security holes which are fixed in updates. Internet Explorer is a browser that is not supported by FaceCheck and you will not have access to this new feature if you are using Internet Explorer. Please download another browser or update your existing browsers to make sure your account stays protected. Supported browsers include Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Opera, Samsung Internet or Safari.

FaceCheck alternative: Authenticator app

Choose between FaceCheck (2-second video selfie login) or an authenticator app (one-time passcode) as your log in method with Brightwell Navigator.

An app where you input a security code linked to your account. The authenticator app creates a unique, 6- to 8- digit code every time you log in.

Yes. There are a variety of authenticator apps that you can download for your smartphone. A popular example is Google Authenticator, which can be found in Google Play and the iOS App Store.

Once you download the app, it does not use any WiFi. You will only need to use data to download the authenticator app, once the authenticator app is linked to Brightwell Navigator, no data is required to log in with it.

How to link authenticator app:

1. Copy the security token from Brightwell Navigator.

2. Open your authenticator app, add a new account for Brightwell Navigator. You will need to paste the security token you copied from Brightwell Navigator.

3. After setting up the new account for Brightwell Navigator, copy the one-time security code the authenticator app provides.

4. Paste the one-time security code into Brightwell Navigator. Once the code is accepted, you are now setup to use an authenticator app at login.
